Viv's main role is as Course Leader for the GDL, which is a conversion course for non-law graduates. She also teaches on the EU and Tort and Extended Essay modules on the GDL course.

Prior to setting up the GDL, Viv taught on the Legal Practice Course and was one of the original team of tutors who devised the LPC at Cardiff in 1993.  For many years she was subject leader for the LPC  elective of Commercial Property, covering landlord and tenant law,    environmental law, planning and VAT. Viv was also a founder member of the LPC Business Law and Practice team, getting involved in teaching and designing assessments in Company and Partnership law, taxation, competition law, commercial agreements, business accounts, drafting and legal writing. From time to time she is still involved with these courses and with LPC assessments.      For several years, Viv has taught and assessed Company Law on the LLB  programme and has also helped to assess this subject on the Cardiff BPTC course.

Viv has been Chair of the School's Equality and Diversity Committee and a member of the University E&D Committee. She has been LPC student disability officer and chair of the Assessment Scrutiny Committee.    Externally, she has been an external examiner at Manchester Metropolitan University on behalf of the SRA and has also worked as a consultant for SRA Legal, a local firm of solicitors.
