Overview

With 25 years of experience in Oncology, my professional journey began within the Clinical Trials Unit at Velindre Cancer Centre, where I dedicated a decade to setting up various oncology studies alongside the Research Team. This equipped me with a wealth of knowledge which transferred to my 15-year tenure at CTR, initially as a Data Manager and subsequently promoted to the role of Trial Manager in 2014.

Over the years, I have actively contributed to a spectrum of studies, spanning lung, gynecological, and colorectal cancer, on both CTIMP and non-CTIMP studies such as RT3VIN, SCOPE, CONSCOP, CONSCOP2, VIM, PIN, and QuicDNA.

My primary focus revolves around early detection, screening, and prevention strategies. Currently, I am managing the CONSCOP2, where my efforts are dedicated to enhancing the efficacy of bowel cancer screening programs. This involves a meticulous comparison between standard colonoscopies and chromocolonoscopy to reduce the incidence and mortality of proximal colon cancer. I am also setting up the QuicDNA study which is looking at shortening the time to receive treatment for stage IV lung cancer patients.

Drawing from my extensive background, which includes setting up clinical trials in both hospital and university settings, I possess a broad understanding of the optimal approaches to engage sites, collaborate with research nurses, and maintant positive relationships across diverse professions.

PIN - A randomised phase II trial of Olaparib maintenance versus placebo monotherapy in patients with chemosensitive advanced non-small cell lung cancer

CONSCOP - Feasability study in reduction of right sided bowel cancer through contrast enhanced colnonoscopy

I currently manage the following clinical study within the Centre for Trials Research:

CONSCOP2 - Randomised controlled trial of contrast enhanced colonoscopy in the reduction of right sided bowel cancer
