Overview

Dr. Bilal Hafeez is a lecturer in Finance and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has a Ph.D. in Finance from Massey University's School of Economics and Finance (July 2021), specializing in Corporate Finance. Before joining Cardiff Business School, he was an Assistant Professor at the FAST School of Management, the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan. In addition to his academic roles, Bilal brings valuable real-world experience to his teaching and research. While working as a consultant in Pakistan, he actively contributed to various consulting assignments with a combined worth of more than Rs. 63 million (500,000 £ per the exchange rate in 2016).

Bilal's research interests encompass empirical corporate finance, focusing on shareholder activism, shareholder voting, corporate governance, and managerial behavior. He has published his work in reputable journals like the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and the International Review of Financial Analysis. Bilal is adept at working with large datasets, including SEC-EDGAR filings and Earnings Transcripts. He frequently employs textual analysis and machine learning tools in his research projects, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of finance.

My current research interests are focused on shareholder activism, shareholder voting, corporate governance, and managerial behavior. I am particularly interested in investigating the above in the context of emerging economies like China and India etc.
