Overview

Jessica's background is in Marketing and Communications in the creative industries. She works as a Digital Communications Officer for Media Cymru.

Previously, Jessica worked as Marketing and Communications Officer at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff.

Jessica has a passion for the arts with a M.A in Fine Art from Aberystwyth University, where she specialised in interdisciplinary practice and worked across various mediums in video, photography, audio and installation.

She studied a B.A in Cymraeg/Fine Art (also at Aberystwyth University) and she is currently undertaking Dysgu Cymraeg courses with Cardiff University. As an enthusiastic Welsh learner and second language speaker, Jessica is keen to champion the Welsh language in her vocational work.

Biography

Jessica is a Digital Communications Officer for Media Cymru. Prior to this, she worked in Marketing and Communications at multi-arts centres including Chapter in Cardiff and Memo Arts Centre in Barry.

Between 2012-2018, she moved from South Wales to study at Aberystwyth University where she gained a B.A in Cymraeg/Fine Art and a M.A in Fine Art. Here she specialised in interdisciplinary practice, working across various mediums in video, photography, audio and installation.

During this time, Jessica worked in several creative roles including: Digital Marketing and Design Assistant at interior design service and art shop, The Deco Shop, Machynlleth; Multimedia Assistant for online publication, New Welsh Review, Aberystwyth; Promotions and Events Officer for art residency programme, Stiwdio Maelor, Corris (North Wales).

Over recent years, she has undertaken artist residences in various countries, utilising the time to explore and expand her artistic practice and capabilities. These have included: Gushul Residencies, Canada (2018); The Trelex Residency, Switzerland (2017); Stiwdio Maelor, Wales (2016); JOYA arte + ecologia, Spain (2015 & 2014).

As well as working in experimental video, Jessica has enjoyed creating documentary-based footage such as interviews and exhibition showcases.

Alongside her passion for the arts and all things visual, she is interested in the Welsh language and celebrates this in her vocational work. She is currently undertaking Dysgu Cymraeg courses with Cardiff University.
