Overview
I am currently working for WISERD Education. Looking at school exclusion and working on a pan Wales survey of school pupils.
I have worked in education for an alternative education provider where I helped young people facing barriers access opportunities within the construction industry. I also helped measure the impact of this work. I am really interested in measuring the impact of programmes that improve people's lives. Because how are we ever going to replicate successful programmes if we don't evaluate them.
I have also worked in youth homelessness. Co-producing research, with young people who have experienced homelessness.

Biography
Jemma works on the Excluded Lives project at WISERD Education. Excluded Lives is a multi-disciplinary project across the four jurisdictions of the UK based in the Department of Education at the University of Oxford. The overarching aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary view of the different policies, practices and costs of school exclusion in the UK.
Jemma has a background in education, housing and homelessness. Most recently she worked at End Youth Homelessness Cymru (EYHC) where she conducted research capturing youth voice and suggesting practical solutions to end youth homelessness. She has also led on academic and social projects in the construction industry. Including leading on work to help people with convictions access opportunities within the construction industry. Jemma also developed a bespoke social return on investment (SROI) methodology for a construction charity as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with London South Bank University (LSBU).
Jemma's research interests are young people facing barriers, education and employment, youth homelessness, poverty and social impact measurement.
