Benedict Turner

Law Tutor and Teacher

School of Law and Politics

Overview

BA (Joint Hons.), LL.Dip, MSc., LLM (Lond.), FHEA

I joined Cardiff Law School in 2019 after a time lecturing at the University of Reading. I am the module convenor and lecturer for LLM International Investment Law, lecturer and tutor on the LLB Company Law module and tutor on the Equity and Trusts module. I also hold the position of Associate Lecturer in Equity, Trusts and Land at the Open University.

My research interests and areas of expertise are: international securities law and framework; international investment law; equity and trusts law; company law (particularly around capital markets) and; commercial and financial areas in general. My epistemological background is the economic analysis of law. This looks at law through the lens of economic efficiency and utility in order to bring about wider benefits to society as a whole.

Related to my research interests, I am in the process of completing a PhD at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London. This focuses on the economic analysis of securities law and framework. I am supervised by Dr Mahmood Bagheri of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and Professor Kern Alexander at the University of Cambridge.

I am very happy to consider supervising LLB and LLM dissertations in my fields of expertise or similar areas. If you wish to discuss this, please do get in touch.
