News Release

Cardiff University has been awarded funding through the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships programme to lead a new international initiative aimed at supporting digital transformation and employability for young professionals in Latin America.

The programme, titled Digital Transformation for Young Professionals in Latin America, will be delivered in collaboration with Universidad Anáhuac Mayab in Mexico.

The initiative reflects Cardiff University’s commitment to flexible lifelong learning and international collaboration, aligning with its strategic goal to be “flexible by default” in education delivery.

It will offer a structured online training programme in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Entrepreneurship, targeting 18–25-year-olds across Latin America, with a particular focus on Mexico.

The programme will be delivered via Cardiff University’s Virtual Executive Training (VET) Suite, so that synchronous learning can take place  - with experts in Cardiff delivering to the participants in Mexico, using a modular and stackable format that supports flexible participation.

It also includes workshops to explore pathways for transnational education (TNE) and the publication of a white paper to inform future strategies.

This project exemplifies our vision for flexible lifelong learning—offering inclusive, modular, and internationally connected education that responds to global challenges. By co-designing with our Mexican partners, we’re not only expanding access but also building sustainable frameworks for future collaboration.
Dr Yulia Cherdantseva, Academic Lead for the programme at Cardiff University

The Mexican delivery partner, Universidad Anáhuac Mayab, will play a key role in localising content, recruiting participants, and co-developing the curriculum.

We are proud to collaborate with Cardiff University on this transformative initiative. It strengthens our internationalisation strategy and empowers young professionals in Mexico with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy.
Diana Patricia Luna McCarthy, Director of Innovation at Anáhuac Mayab

The programme is part of Cardiff University’s broader Flexible Lifelong Learning strategy, which aims to develop a portfolio of modular, stackable, and online learning opportunities that support career progression and social mobility.

Funded by the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships programme, this initiative demonstrates the power of international collaboration in creating equitable and innovative education systems. It also contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Reduced Inequalities.
