CUBRIC wins another award
20 July 2017
Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) has secured yet another accolade, this time at the Constructing Excellence in Wales 2017 Awards.
The Centre, opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 2016, took the Chairman’s Special Award at a ceremony attended by almost 600 members of the Welsh construction community.
The project was submitted by BAM, alongside Cardiff University, IBI Group, Arup and HLN Group.
CUBRIC has already won a clutch of awards including Project of the Year and Design through Innovation at the 2017 RICS Awards, and a major science buildings accolade at the 2017 S-Lab Awards.
Earlier this month CUBRIC was one of just four projects shortlisted for this year’s National Eisteddfod Gold Medal for Architecture.
In addition, CUBRIC was runner up in the Buildings that Inspire category of the 2017 Guardian University Awards.
The centre is a world leader for research in areas such as psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience and is home to powerful MRI scanning facilities, brain stimulation equipment, sleep laboratories, modern offices and break-out spaces.
