A new lunchtime concert series from the School of Music will take place in the National Museum Wales with an entertaining exploration of the music of Chopin, his friends and contemporaries.

Professor Kenneth Hamilton, internationally-renowned pianist and Head of the School of Music, will perform three concerts in the series (6 February,13 February, 20 February). These concerts will feature works by Chopin and his contemporaries, including Liszt, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schumann, alongside relaxed commentary on the pieces being performed.

Professor Hamilton said: "This is a new venture for us. We hope it will give audiences a chance to explore some of the best-loved pieces of classical music in a relaxed, intimate and informative setting. The concerts won't last more than 50 minutes, so they shouldn't take up too much of a busy lunchtime!"

The series will continue on 13 March with a concert from August Guan (harpsichord) and on 20 March with soprano Jenni Cook and flautist Amy Likar.

All concerts take place at 1.10pm in the Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre, National Museum Wales. Tickets are £5 per concert. Book all five concerts in advance for £20. Entry is free for students and under 18s.

Tickets are available online or from the Ticketsource box office on 0333 666 3366.
