This February saw the confirmation of a collaborative partnership between Cardiff University and the Spanish Embassy Education Office (SEEO).

This is the first partnership of its kind between the SEEO and a Welsh Higher Education provider and aims to offer and increase up take of teacher training and professional development in further education colleges and secondary schools across Wales.

It is hoped that the partnership will support students who are learning Spanish and raise awareness of the importance of Spanish language skills in alignment with current Welsh Government initiatives to encourage language learning such as Global Futures.

The School of Modern Languages will become home to the SEEO in Wales who will have a satellite office in the building on the ground floor.

On 1 February we welcomed Education Advisors María Concepción Julián de Vega and Jesus Manuel Hernández González and Education Counsellor Dr Gonzalo Capellán de Miguel to the School to sign an agreement of the partnership with Head of School, Professor Rachael Langford.

Colleagues from the SEEO then met with members of the Spanish Department to discuss future collaborative projects.
