The implications of the Leveson Inquiry and the role of female photographers in the Second World War are just two of the topics taking centre stage as part of the University's Creative Minds Festival.
A celebration of the breadth of humanities research at Cardiff, the Festival runs from October through to December 2012 and aims to engage members of the public, staff and students in this rich area of the University's work.
The festival also gives leading authors, musicians and poets an opportunity to bring their latest work and ideas to the public.
Highlights from the programme include this year's Wales Book of the Year winners Patrick McGuiness, Jon Gower and Richard Gwyn; BookTalk events on The Little Stranger and Maus: A Survivor's Tale; and an exploration of the hidden past of the Saqqara dog catacombs in Egypt.
Music from the Cardiff University Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra, and the University's ensemble-in-residence, the Carducci Quartet also form part of the event.
James Vilares, Community Engagement Officer who has organised the Creative Minds festival said: "Creative Minds provides members of the public with an opportunity to engage with some of the fascinating work going on in Cardiff through lectures, discussions, concerts and lots more. With over 50 events throughout the autumn term, there's something for everyone."
