Charities Fair

Ever wanted to try your hand at dry stonewalling? Perhaps you'd like to help raise money for forest projects or discover the best routes to travel to and around campus.

On Thursday 1st November 2012 as part of the University's Sustainability Week staff and students can find out more about volunteering opportunities in Wales and further afield as part of a charities fair.

Taking place in the VJ Gallery in Main Building between 11am and 3pm, the fair will include organisations such as RSPB, Size of Wales and Cardiff Foodbank who will have information about their latest projects and volunteering opportunities.

A team from the University's Campus Services division will have a stand at the event promoting the University's new travel plan. The plan has details about the best ways to travel to and from the University, as well as walking maps showing the quickest and easiest routes to travel on foot around campus. The team will be giving away free pedometers to the first 300 visitors to their stand so staff and students can track how far they've walked.

The award-winning environmental group, Cardiff Conservation Volunteers will also be at the Fair with details of their community work including clearing footpaths, tree planting and dry stonewalling. The group won the Prince of Wales Trust Award for designing the pond at Forest Farm.

No booking is necessary for the Fair. Staff and students can drop in and have a look around anytime between 11am and 3pm on Thursday 1st November.
