Professor Roger Scully is the newest member of staff at the Wales Governance Centre. Here he tells Blas about his favourite place on campus and what he'd be doing if he wasn't working at Cardiff.
Where will you be working in the University? In the Wales Governance Centre, based mainly in our new headquarters in the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay, directly opposite the National Assembly.
What will you be doing in your new role? Teaching, researching, writing, and communicating.
What were you doing before you joined Cardiff? I was Professor of Political Science and Director of the Institute of Welsh Politics at Aberystwyth University.
What's the best part of your job? Teaching enthusiastic students, and talking to audiences that care about how Wales is governed. And working with Richard Wyn Jones – Director of the Wales Governance Centre, and a friend for over a decade.
If you weren't in your current role, what would you be doing? Like most university academics, I'm probably pretty much unemployable outside academia. However, in the summer between my undergrad and masters, I worked as a cleaner in a supermarket, and my boss said I was quite good at that.
Where is your favourite place on campus? I haven't been here long enough to decide. But the National Museum is right next door to campus, and I like that very much.
What's your favourite TV show? I prefer radio. My favourite shows are I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and More or Less.
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work? At home, or being taken for a walk by the dog.
