Cardiff has retained its position in the world's top 225 universities.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-15, published today (21:00hrs 1 October), confirm Cardiff's place for the fourth year running.

Vice Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan said: "Our position in the rankings bears testament to the hard work and dedication of our academics and staff.

"We have risen in two University league tables over the past month. We climbed 13 places in the QS World Rankings to 123rd position, and moved up six places to 27th in the UK in the recent Times and The Sunday Times University Guide. Today's Times Higher Rankings reinforces our position as one of the UK's leading academic institutions for both teaching and research."

Cardiff's individual schools have marked up notable successes in 2014. The School of Physiotherapy strengthened its position as the number one school in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Guide 2015, and the School of Planning and Geography was awarded 100 per cent rating for 'overall satisfaction' by undergraduates in the National Student Survey.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings use 13 separate performance indicators to examine a university's strengths, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
