More Women Engineers Needed
2 December 2015
A recent BBC Wales programme, featuring female academics from the School of Engineering, has looked at why Wales currently has the lowest proportion of female chartered engineers in Great Britain.
The number of female chartered engineers in Wales is just 5.6% in comparison to 25% in Sweden.
Professor Karen Holford, Pro Vice-Chancellor for the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering, and Dr Catherine Wilson, Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering, are both featured in this interesting discussion about the lack of women engineers and how such a wealth of talent is being lost to the world of engineering.
They discuss why engineering is both their passion and their profession and what they think needs to be done to recruit more women into their ranks. You can listen to the programme here:http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06qddns
