Cardiff Business School hosts AI summer camp for students from two Chinese partner universities

Cardiff Business School welcomed over 30 visiting students from two Chinese international priority partner universities.
The transnational education (TNE) summer camp, comprising Dalian University of Technology and Anhui University of Science and Technology, explored artificial intelligence and its economic and social implications.
AI expert and former member of Cardiff University Council Ricardo Calil delivered a hands-on artificial intelligence lecture on how to use generative AI in learning and research.
Professor Peng Zhou enhanced focus on AI by highlighting its benefits and risks and how they may be distributed unevenly across individuals, organisations, and societies.
Students were enjoyed a guided tour showcasing the campus, its facilities, and the Cardiff student experience.
Reflecting on the visit, Professor Zhou said, "While TNE provides flexibility in the location of international study, short-term programmes offer flexibility in its duration.
The summer camp gave students an opportunity to experience academic life at Cardiff, engage directly with experts, and develop a broader understanding of AI.
“It was particularly rewarding to see their enthusiasm and thoughtful engagement throughout the programme.”
The summer camp opened doors for students pursuing flexible learning, helping those unable to undertake longer-term study to access higher education opportunities.
Anhui University of Science and Technology has plans to provide a semester-long visit for students in partnership with Cardiff Business School, advancing flexible learning in higher education on a global scale.
