Cardiff Business School reaccredited with the Small Business Charter

Cardiff Business School has been reaccredited with the prestigious Small Business Charter for 5 years in recognition of their exceptional impact on small businesses and student entrepreneurship.

The School was commended for demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) through Help to Grow: Management - a programme supporting senior managers of SMEs to help boost their businesses’ performance resilience and long-term growth - and through collaborative research and development projects including the Wales Productivity Forum and the Digital Transformation Innovation Institute, delivering growth in turnover and job creation.

The panel of assessors also praised the provision of physical innovation and start-up spaces for student enterprise and academic spin-outs - companies created to commercialize intellectual property generated from university research.

Outgoing Dean and Head of School Professor Tim Edwards reflected:

“It demonstrates the breadth and depth of support generated by colleagues creating opportunities and supporting businesses and organisations that deliver jobs, employability, social and economic good.

“The Business School should be proud of this achievement, especially as it delivers the Help to Grow initiative in south east Wales. This award confirms our collective role as an anchor institution in Wales, UK and internationally."

The Small Business Charter is an accreditation assessed by small business leaders to recognise business schools which are centres of excellence in supporting small businesses, student enterprise, and the local economy.

There are now 70 business schools in the UK, and two internationally in Ireland and Australia, that hold the Small Business Charter accreditation.
