Social care workers in Wales have their say
11 February 2026
Academics at Cardiff University are delivering this year’s survey of social care workers for Social Care Wales, in collaboration with Care Forum Wales.
The survey is co-led by Professor Paul Willis of the Centre for Adult Social Care Research (CARE) and Dr Katy Huxley, based at the Social Science Research Park (SPARK) with support from Dr Richard Gater (CARE).
Questions cover topics such as health and wellbeing, pay and conditions, and how employees feel about working in the sector. Care Forum Wales is playing a key role in promoting the survey to ensure strong engagement across the sector.
Results of the survey will be available later this year.
Professor Willis, based at the University’s School of Social Sciences said: “This important project will help shape the future of the social care workforce in Wales by gathering insights from across the sector.”
I would encourage anyone working in social care to take part so that we have the fullest picture possible of what it’s like for people working in what is a rewarding yet demanding profession.
Dr Katy Huxley said: “We’ve developed the Have Your Say 2026 survey in collaboration with Social Care Wales and Care Forum Wales, and have engaged with workers’ and equalities groups to ensure the survey reflects the issues and needs of the workforce. The survey will provide robust and granular data that explores differences in the experience of work amongst different roles in social care, and different marginalised communities.”
Dr Richard Gater added: “I am really excited to be involved in this project. It will hopefully produce valuable insight into the experiences of those working in social care in Wales and help to shape policies and practices that reflect employee needs and improve the delivery of essential care.”
The survey will close on March 4. You can access the survey here: https://socsi.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eULFGgym3s6CUya
