School of Welsh among the 5 best universities for Cultural Studies

Cardiff University's School of Welsh is ranked third in the UK for Cultural Studies in the Times Good University Guide 2026.

This is the latest recognition in a series of recent successes for the School, which is also first in Wales and the UK for Celtic Studies in the Complete University Guide 2026 and second in the UK for Celtic Studies in the Daily Mail University Guide 2026.

Cultural Studies is a new subject this year, replacing Celtic Studies, the subject used in previous years. Cultural Studies combines Celtic Studies with East and South Asian Studies.

Dr Siwan Rosser (Deputy Head at the School of Welsh) said: "I am very pleased to see our staff’s hard work acknowledged in these excellent results. They are testament to our dedication to producing high-quality and cutting-edge research, and ensuring an excellent experience for our students."
