Top 20 for Journalism and Media and Film Studies

Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture has been ranked 14^th in the UK for Journalism and 13^th in the UK for Media and Film Studies in The Guardian University Guide 2026.

This is the latest in a string of successes for the School which recently ranked 6^th in the UK for Communication and Media Studies in The Times Good University Guide 2026.

The School is also in the top 50 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 for Communication and Media Studies and is in the top 10 in the UK for Communication and Media Studies in the Complete University Guide 2026. It also ranked in the top 10 for Journalism and in the top 5 for Media Studies in the Daily Mail University League Table 2026.

Head of the School of Journalism, Media and Culture, Dr Matt Walsh, said: “Following the recent publication of The Times Good University Guide 2026, this is yet another success for the School and I’m immensely proud our teaching and research are getting the recognition they deserve.
