From blueprints to business cards: architecture students build connections at industry networking event

17 June 2025

Our recent industry networking event provided an opportunity for architecture students to connect face-to-face with a range of local and UK-based architecture employers and explore future career opportunities.

The event, a collaboration between Student Futures and the Welsh School of Architecture, was hosted in the Bute Building exhibition hall. Students got to network with practitioners, gain insights into the industry and learn about industry expectations for graduate/part 1 architects. Students were able to ask questions about company culture, job-seeking tips, and upcoming opportunities, while employers shared advice on standing out in a competitive field and offered a glimpse into their practice and values.

It was wonderful to see practitioners fostering conversations with students and students gaining confidence as they networked. A big thank you to the students for their engagement and to the practitioners for generously sharing their knowledge, advice, and time. A heartfelt thanks to Student Futures for making this event possible. We look forward to bringing everyone together again in the future!

Students also received tailored support from careers advisers who were on hand throughout the event. Many took advantage of the CV and Cover Letter Clinic for personalised feedback, while others sharpened their interview skills through mini mock interviews designed specifically for architecture students.

Beyond networking, events like this help our students develop into effective communicators  and build on their ethical and environmental awareness - key graduate attributes for a successful future in architecture.

The students were enthusiastic and confident in asking questions relating to the company and future employment. They were professional and a pleasure to talk to.
