New Recording Hits the Charts

Scenes from Childhood, a new CD of piano music by Dr Pedro Faria Gomes, performed by Professor Kenneth Hamilton, recently reached No.17 in the UK Specialist Classical Charts and No.13 in the Presto Music Chart.

The album, on the Prima Facie label, features the first recordings of two important works by Dr Faria Gomes—Suite J and Sonatina—accompanied by detailed liner notes from Dr David Beard.

Selected tracks from the recording have been broadcast on radio in Portugal (RTP Antena 2).

US critic James Manheim (AllMusic) described the music as “two of the most remarkable compositions to come out of the pandemic”, and the album itself as “a wonderful, offbeat find”.
