Colleagues from across Cardiff University came together to celebrate Christmas with an international Christmas carol sing-along.

One hundred and twenty people attended the event on the evening of Tuesday 5 December which was held in the Concert Hall at the School of Music.

The event was sponsored by the School of Modern Languages and was supported by the School of Music, the Global Opportunity Centre and the International Staff Network.

The international Christmas carol sing-along was a multilingual celebration of the festive season in English, Welsh, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Latin.

International students and colleagues introduced the songs and texts while students from the School of Music accompanied the carols. The audience also enjoyed two Christmas musical performances from students studying music.

Following the event, a reception was held in the School of Music.

Dr Jittima Muensoongnoen, a member of the International Staff Network, said: “The Christmas carol sing-along was a great way to bring together our diverse community within the university to enjoy this festive event. We sang songs in a variety of languages sharing each other’s cultural expressions of this season and enjoyed mulled wine with mince pies.”
