UK celebration takes place at Cardiff University

A celebration of the anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion has taken place in Cardiff.

First Minister Mark Drakeford, Chancellor of Cardiff University Baroness Jenny Randerson and Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami attended the special event, organised by The Sikh Council of Wales, the High Commission to India and the University’s School of History, Archaeology and Religion.

Co-organiser of the celebration, Professor of Sanskrit and Indian Religions James Hegarty said:

‘It is a great privilege to celebrate the life and wisdom of Guru Nanak at Cardiff University.’

Attended by 200 guests, the life and legacy celebration was held at the Julian Hodge Building on 26 November.
