Cardiff University had a strong presence at the “Researching Medical Education Conference 2022 - Expanding Borders in Medical Education” that took place in London on the 10th of November.

Staff participated in the organising committee, led three of the 15 parallel workshops, and postgraduate researchers attended as members.

Dorottya Cserzo ran an interactive workshop about Research interviews and focus groups. The workshop was aimed at junior researchers who wanted to learn about these research methods. The session focused on research design, covering the strengths and limitations of these approaches, the practicalities of using the methods, and key ethical considerations in the context of medical education. The workshop ended with participants producing pilot question schedules.

The room was full, with 54 members signing up ahead of time and 43 participating in the interactive online polls. Feedback indicated that participants found the session inspiring and useful, leaving with ideas about changing their research design, questions schedule, and ways of recording and storing data.
