School team smashes target as part of #TeamCardiff at Cardiff Half Marathon

Last month #TeamCardiff runners took on the Cardiff Half Marathon and raised an incredible £70,000 towards neuroscience and mental health, and cancer research at Cardiff University.

The team of more than 200 Cardiff University staff, students, alumni and friends laced up their trainers, to cover the 13.1 miles, passing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Among the Cardiff contingent was the 15-strong team of staff and students from the School of English, Communication and Philosophy.

The largest of the University school teams, this intrepid group together raised an incredible £6,000 including Gift Aid for neuroscience and mental health, and cancer research.

Running for the school at the March event around the capital were team captain Robert Meredith, Angharad Jones, Patrick Hassan, Ali Langner, Professor Michael Handford, Megan Leitch, Tom Fuller, Huw Williams, Ryan Plant, Panos Paris, Daisy Cleaver, Zoe Woolford-Lim, Megan Malthouse and head of school Professor Martin Willis,

#TeamCardiff fundraising supports early career researchers with grants that provide a launch pad for them to explore new ideas and unlock future funding opportunities.

By supporting the next generation of neuroscience and mental health, and cancer researchers, #TeamCardiff fundraisers are accelerating life-changing discoveries to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for people living with a wide range of conditions.
