Double Congratulations for Dr Emma Barnes

4 February 2022

CUREMeDE are delighted to extend our congratulates to Dr Emma Barnes on the recent completion of her PhD.

Having first joined the CUREMEeDE team in 2011 as a researcher working on projects related to healthcare provision, workforce and education (notably in the field of dentistry), Emma took a break in 2018 to pursue her PhD focussed on aspects of oral health education and patient self-care within contexts of deprivation in South Wales.

She successfully completed her doctorate on time and has now secured a position within Cardiff School of Dentistry as Research Associate in Epidemiology and Data Analysis. In the short term she continues to work with CUREMeDE on some of our work.

These are impressive achievements, and we couldn’t be happier for her. We are especially pleased to continue our 10+ year relationship.

Alison Bullock, Emma’s supervisor says

It’s been a pleasure to work with Emma over the last 10 years or so and the PhD is further endorsement of her eminent skills as a researcher. It is no mean achievement to complete her doctoral studies, in time, during the pandemic and alongside leading on further publications. She will be an asset to the School of Dentistry where Emma’s reputation in the field of dentistry will continue to flourish.
