Updates from our Cynon Valley project

25 February 2022

A group of people at the Cynon Valley Organic Adventures site

Work has been continuing at the Cynon Valley Organic Adventures site, with some exciting developments underway.

The pathways for the new nature trail at the site been created by people referred to the scheme through green social prescribing, and by young people who are participating in the Kickstart placement scheme .

Work is now about to begin to build a replacement bridge over the local stream. This work will be supported by civil engineering students from Cardiff University's School of Engineering.

With support from the National Museum of Wales at Caerleon, work has started on creating a Roman wellbeing garden and plans are in place to construct a Celtic roundhouse. We have also applied for funds to build an eco classroom to serve as hub from which to deliver nature based and well being activities.

We are also continuing to work with local healthcare providers to develop a clearer understanding of the barriers which prevent patients being referred to nature based activity as a means of supporting mental and physical health.
