Quarter 3 Newsletter 2020

9 October 2020

HWB

Thank you

Our facility has been open throughout 2020 to enable essential work both from Cardiff University and external businesses to take place. COVID-19 response activities have included supporting the setting up of population screening by Cardiff University, and undertaking validation of a commercial product for an external client.

In line with Cardiff University's successful phased approach to enable access to research laboratories, it is great to now be welcoming back many more researchers. We also encourage external businesses to continue to contact us about our services.

Prior to starting work in our facility, please continue to remember to contact one of our CBS Technologists. This is important as it ensures that we keep you updated on any new measures that we have in place to ensure safe working. Thank you also for continuing to use our booking system to book all CBS hosted equipment that you plan to use.

Thank you for your cooperation. Please contact us if you have any questions or comments.

Flow cytometry courses

It is great to see so many Cardiff University researchers signing up for the latest flow cytometry theory and FlowJo software courses by InCytometry to be held in October.

There are still some places remaining for the FlowJo course on Thursday 29th October (9.30 am). Further flow cytometry theory courses will be held soon so please contact us if you want to go on the waiting list.

Bionano Genomics webinar

Register here for the webinar by Bionano Genomics that we are hosting on Tuesday 3rd November (10 am). While NGS has been around for decades, challenges are still presented when samples present large and complex structural variations. Bionano Genomics is able to image ultra high weight molecular DNA, spotting all structural variants over 500bp right up to the megabase size. Come and join the webinar to find out more!
