Romantic Piano Encores, performed by Professor Kenneth Hamilton, will appear this month.

The collection of his best-loved encore pieces will be released by Prima Facie Records on May 28th.

Recorded at the School of Music, Romantic Piano Encores features fourteen pieces including the premiere recording of an elegant arrangement of Saint-Saëns’ Swan by one of Professor Hamilton’s teachers, the late Lawrence Glover.

The album includes a wide variety of music, from J.S. Bach to Percy Grainger, and includes two dazzling virtuoso showstoppers by Leopold Godowsky and Ignaz Friedman, based on waltzes by Johann Strauss.

Professor Hamilton said: “This is an album of pieces I’ve long loved to play. It’s also a paradox: encores without a preceding programme: musical icing without the cake. But the tracks here were at least recorded as “encores” – played in joyful relaxation and relief towards the end of sessions largely devoted to other albums.”

Romantic Piano Encores by Professor Kenneth Hamilton, released by Prima Facie records, is available from May 28th.
