The Vice-Chancellor has extended the University’s condolences to members of the Royal Family following the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Professor Colin Riordan said: “I had the immense privilege of welcoming His Royal Highness to the University when he joined Her Majesty The Queen to officially open Cardiff University’s Brain Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) in 2016.

“What struck me during his visit was his genuine interest in the science and the enthusiasm he showed when meeting pupils from local schools, staff and students alike.

“On behalf of Cardiff University, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Royal Family at this extremely difficult and emotional time.”

In tribute, all University flags will be flown at half-mast.
