Chemistry student secures impressive internship
6 May 2020
Caprice Smith, a second-year BSc student, has secured a place on Morgan Stanley’s Corporate Treasury Industrial Placement Program 2020.
In June 2020, Caprice will begin a one-year paid internship with multinational investment bank, Morgan Stanley.
Caprice was scouted for the prestigious internship opportunity at the IT’s not just for boys’ event, hosted by TargetJobs. She took part in a team challenge to create an app and pitch it to a potential investor. Caprice’s team was partnered with Morgan Stanley whose representative was impressed with her contributions and the way she managed the team.
Following this activity there was a networking session where Caprice made a great first impression. At the end of the event, one member of each team was nominated by their company representative for an award based on their performance in the challenge and Caprice was chosen for the prize.
Caprice began her application to Morgan Stanley’s internship programme the following day, and after an intense application process, she secured the role.
Her placement will involve a mixture of financial risk management, cash and liquidity management, and funding and debt management. Caprice will carry out different financial tests, analyse models and produce weekly-monthly reports to present to global teams and senior management.
Many congratulations to Caprice from all the staff at the School of Chemistry.
