Welsh politics experts to discuss 2015 General Election at the Eisteddfod

31 July 2015

Experts from Cardiff University’s renowned Wales Governance Centre will be putting the recent General Election under the microscope at the National Eisteddfod. At the event, Professors Richard Wyn Jones and Roger Scully from the Centre will be giving their expert opinion on what happened at the election, and analysing the results in full. They will also be presenting detailed data from the British Election Study about the effectiveness of the parties’ campaigns in targeting their efforts. The session will be taking place at the Cymdeithasau 1 pavilion at 2pm on Wednesday 5 August at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod. The event will provide an analysis of UK-wide results of the election, the Welsh results of the election, and an explanation of the outcomes for each party.

Professors Wyn Jones and Scully will also be participating in a question and answer session with the audience.

Speaking ahead of the event, Professor Scully said: “The National Eisteddfod is an important event in the Welsh calendar and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to share our analysis of the recent General Election with the Eisteddfod audience.
“The recent election provided many shocks and surprises everywhere, including in Wales. We also saw for the first time ever a different party winning in each of the four nations of the UK.
“Even three months after the election there is still plenty left to discuss.”

The National Eisteddfodd takes place in Meifod, Montgomeryshire and the Marches between 1 - 8 August 2015.
