2026 Alumni 30(ish) Awards now open for nominations
31 March 2026
Returning for their fifth year, the 30(ish) Awards are back to celebrate and share the story of the changemakers, innovators, and rule-breakers in the Cardiff University alumni community.
Once again, we'll be recognising a list of 30(ish) alumni who have made a positive contribution to their community, and all before they hit 30. Well, 30(ish).
Nominations are now open, so whether you’re bossing it and nominating yourself, or know of another game-changer who you think deserves recognition, be sure to make your case by 21 June 2026.
All winners will be invited to the 30(ish) Awards event on Thursday 19 November in sbarc | spark, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor. Forget traditional black tie – this is all about celebrating and connecting with like-minded bright sparks.
Announced on the night, the Vice-Chancellor’s Award will be presented to one special winner, alongside the ‘People’s Choice’ award which is voted for by the alumni and Cardiff community.
Last year, more than 30 exceptional alumni were recognised with awards for innovation, creativity, positive work in their community or for the environment, and excellence in their field.
Winners included former Paralympian, surgeon and ESA Astronaut Reserve John McFall (MBBCh 2014), award-winning writer, poet and disability activist Bethany Handley (BA 2022), elephant conservationist Dr Farina Othman (PhD 2018) and charity founder and changemaker Dr Olamide Oguntimehin (MBBCh 2021).
