According to the latest table compiled by The Complete University Guide, Cardiff University has risen from third to be the leading university in the UK for East and South Asian Studies.

Being number one is something we are very excited about, but we are not resting on our laurels. Indeed, we expect to see our scores improve further in the future thanks to the exciting developments surrounding the creation of a new School of Modern Languages at Cardiff University. At present, ‘East and South Asian Studies’ at Cardiff is primarily Japanese, although the teaching of some other languages are provided through the innovative Languages for All programme. In the coming years, we are looking to develop new degree programmes, not only related to Japanese (for example, a Single Honours programme and a joint honours programme with History) but also in Chinese studies. There can be no doubt that now is an excellent time to be studying at and applying to Cardiff in East Asian Studies.
