Bio Wales 2016

University named title sponsor for flagship life sciences event

Cardiff University has been confirmed as title sponsors for BioWales 2016 - the flagship event for the life sciences sector in Wales, and one of the UK’s leading life science conferences.

Now in its 14th year, the event takes place at the Wales Millennium Centre on 1-2 March 2016.

Professor Dylan Jones, Pro Vice-Chancellor College of Biomedical and Life Sciences said: “We are really proud to be part of one of the UK’s leading life science conferences taking place in Wales.

“The event will attract an international audience providing an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our innovation in the life sciences and to further develop important links with business and industry.

“Only recently the University was named a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in a network of hubs to develop precision medicine across the UK. This is further acknowledgement of our expertise in researching and developing innovative technologies for the UK healthcare sector, along with our willingness to collaborate and work in partnership with national and global stakeholders.”

The theme of this year’s event is Connect and Collaborate, reflecting the unique platform that the conference provides for attendees to develop international connections and partnering opportunities.

The event builds on Wales’s collaborative strength, bringing together industry experts, life science investors and international networks, focussing on the interaction between business, academia and healthcare.

Professor Hywel Thomas, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Engagement added: “We have a thriving and innovative research culture at Cardiff University - one that connects our academics to industry, business, government and the third sector in Wales, the UK and internationally.

“Our new £300m innovation campus will help turn research questions into ‘real world’ answers, transforming our work and driving economic growth.”
