Reignite a passion for politics

4 September 2019

Are you thinking about returning to education after some time away? If you’re over 18 and have a keen interest in Welsh, UK and International politics our pathway to a degree in politics and international relations might be just what you’re looking for.

This pathway, which is taught in lunchtimes and evenings, is equivalent to 50% of the first year of a degree and is intended to provide you with the skills needed to progress onto the University’s International Relations and Politics (BSc Econ) programme.

This pathway programme will give you the opportunity to engage with contemporary politics and reflect on life-changing political decisions as they happen.  Modules on the course currently include Introduction to International Relations, The English Legal System and European Law and 1989: a Pivotal Year for Europe which will provide you with a firm knowledge base to progress on to a degree.

Out students are our biggest advocates for the programme and are always keen to share their experiences of the pathway.  Simba Chabarika (pictured) graduated from the School of Law and Politics in 2019.  He studied his degree after completing the pathway programme.

“I am profoundly grateful to the pathway especially Jan Stephens for her advice, support and encouragement and of course the wonderful team of tutors who prepared us for what was to come in the degree course!”

The pathway course is a huge inspiration to those who want to further their education. I never thought I was capable of achieving such success until the course showed me my real potential!”

If you’re interested in finding out more about our pathway to a degree in politics and international relations, please attend our next Open Day which is taking place on Wednesday 11 September 2019.
