School of Music ranked 12th in the UK

The School of Music is once again celebrating success after being ranked as one of the UK’s leading music departments in the in The Complete University Guide 2020.

In the latest league tables, the School rose four places to 12th in the UK for Music studies, placing us in the top 15%.

The School performed particularly well in student satisfaction, reaching a score of 4.42, ranking us 4th in the UK. We were also ranked 7th in the UK for the quality of our research.

Cardiff University also performed well nationally, rising to 26th in the UK and keeping our place as the top university in Wales.

The Complete University Guide ranks over 130 UK universities on entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects and is used by a large number of university applicants to help inform their decisions.

Professor Kenneth Hamilton, Head of the School of Music, said of this year’s results: “League tables can hardly hope to measure everything about a School, but as they do exist, it’s always splendid to be doing well. And I’m particularly delighted by our outstanding score for student experience!”
