We are pleased to announce that, following a successful audit in April 2019, Central Biotechnology Services (CBS) at Cardiff University has gained Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) accreditation.

GCLP is an established international quality system for laboratories that analyse samples from clinical trials in accordance with global Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations.

GCLP ensures the quality and reliability of the clinical trial data generated by a laboratory. By complying with GCLP standards we have demonstrated that we maintain clinical trial data integrity and provide analytical clinical trial results that are consistent, auditable and repeatable. We will be monitored annually by external audits to maintain this accreditation.

We already have a track record over many years of performing clinical trials to this standard following sponsor audits from a range of clients including the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult.

We are excited to have this new accreditation confirming that we are working to GCLP standards and are eager to increase our work supporting external clinical trials.

We can also give advice to Cardiff University colleagues on working to this standard or conduct work on a contract basis.

Thank you to everyone who helped us to gain this important new accreditation, an excellent complement to our ISO 9001:2015 accreditation.
