Cardiff University performed particularly well for ‘graduate prospects’ with a score of 81.9 compared to the national average of 75.5.

In addition to this, Wales as a whole has overtaken the East Midlands as the region with the most satisfied students.

In a ranking of individual subjects, the University featured in 45 of the 70 subjects and was ranked among the top ten in 12 subjects. These were Architecture; Celtic Studies; Civil Engineering; Communication & Media Studies; Dentistry; German; Medical Technology; Optometry; Ophthalmology & Orthoptics; Pharmacology & Pharmacy; Physiotherapy; Town & Country Planning and Landscape Design.

The University was ranked as the joint top university in the UK for occupational therapy.

The Complete University Guide ranks over 130 UK universities on entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects and is used by a large number of university applicants to help inform their decisions.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan said: “I’m delighted to see us improve our rankings at both an institutional and subject level and to maintain our status as the number one university in Wales.

“The results are an indication of the prowess of these subject areas at Cardiff, and testament to the commitment and expertise of our staff.”

Dr Bernard Kingston, Chairman of TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk, commented: “The evidence is clear; the increased emphasis, including funding, on employability and career planning within academic departments and student services is bearing fruit.

“Many institutions now have this as a core element of their strategic plans with the introduction of innovative programmes of subject-specific careers events focussed on embedding and signposting graduate destinations.
