Future of Journalism conference 2015

For two days distinguished journalism and media studies academics from across the world presented, discussed and debated their research in the field of journalism studies at Cardiff University's fifth biennial Future of Journalism Conference.

The conference was hosted by the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies and sponsored by Routledge, Taylor and Francis.

Based upon this year’s theme of Risks, Threats and Opportunities, the conference saw over 120 papers presented across 34 sessions. Sessions on day one addressed a range of topics including surveillance, data journalism, risk, conflict and also the computerisation of journalism.

Day two began with sessions addressing trust, ethics, new business models, sourcing practices and social media.

Professor Stephen D. Reese from the University of Texas at Austin and Professor Jean Seaton from the University of Westminster presented the opening plenaries while Professor Dan Gillmor from Arizona State University delivered the closing plenary.
