From 25th June to 15th September, Cardiff Confucius Institute helped to welcome over 100 delegates from all over China who were taking part in the China Scholarship Council's leadership training programme.

During Vice Premier Madam LIU Yandong’s visit to Cardiff University in September 2015 an agreement was signed for the development and delivery of a leadership training programme, sponsored by China Scholarship Council (CSC). CSC organises these programmes on an annual basis around the world and 2018 is the third successive year that the programme has been run in Cardiff.

This year, the programme ran from the 25th June – 15th September with over 100 delegates from mid to senior management roles at Chinese Universities.

The theme for the programme was leadership and management in a University context, with a particular focus on innovation. During their time in Cardiff the delegation spent time attending workshops and visiting various University departments to observe and learn from UK colleagues, whilst also sharing practices from their own universities.

Cardiff Confucius Institute was delighted to support the delegation by providing them with a welcome talk at the beginning of their stay, giving them lots of useful tips on how to get about in Cardiff and introducing them to the Confucius Institute. Executive Director Catherine Chabert met the delegation again at the end of their stay in Cardiff, and was pleased to see how much they had learnt and how much their communication skills had improved over their time in Wales.
