Conservation course recognised at International Prize for Architectural Restoration

The MSc Sustainable Building Conservation has been awarded with an honourable mention in the Special Prize for International Education category at the DOMUS International Prize for Architectural Restoration.

The DOMUS International Prize for Architectural Restoration was conceived by the Department of Architecture at Ferrara University and Fassa Bortolo, an Italian building supplies company, with the aim of highlighting contemporary projects that have consciously implemented principles of sustainability and preservation.

The Prize jury praised the MSc Sustainable Building Conservation for “the great heterogeneity of the themes tackled (…) demonstrating the constant expansion of the concept of heritage characterising the modern age, but also the need to examine the various components according to a unified disciplinary approach, aimed at identifying the theme of environmental sustainability as common ground for analysing the pre-existing, whether vernacular building, 20th-century architecture, infrastructure or historical monumental architecture. The clear and aware methodological approach which emerges has more than one point of contact with the discipline of restoration.”

The prize giving ceremony took place on 22nd March 2017 at the Palazzo Tassoni Estense, Ferrara.
