Graduation marked with awards

24 July 2018

Cardiff University’s School of Geography and Planning held its 2018 Graduation ceremony and reception on Monday 16 July 2018.

The formal Graduation ceremony, honouring undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students, took place at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall, while a morning reception was held in a marquee on the lawn of Cardiff University’s iconic Main Building. This was an opportunity for graduates to celebrate with friends, family and faculty, and raise a toast to their success.

During the reception, Head of School, Professor Paul Milbourne, spoke about the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by each and every student in completing their studies and being awarded their degree.

Professor Milbourne also presented this year’s prizes for the best-performing students. The School was pleased to recognise:

  • Thomas Roberts for best performance on the BSc City and Regional Planning programme;
  • Joshua Winkley for best performance on the BSc Geography (Human) and Planning programme;
  • Amy Knox for best performance on the BSc Geography (Human) programme;
  • and, Reece Harris as the best performing student across the School’s Master’s programmes.

Graduation is a highlight of the academic year for the School and presents an opportunity to congratulate all students on their achievements, celebrate with them and their families, and to wish them well for the future.

During their time at the School, all of the students have played a role in enriching and enhancing the School community and culture. As Graduation comes to a close for another year, the School is keen to remind all graduates that they will always be a part of that community and much-valued as alumni. Congratulations to the Class of 2018!
