20th anniversary awards celebrate power of partnerships

Five creative research collaborations with business, government and wider society are being celebrated by Cardiff University.

The University’s 20th Innovation and Impact (I&I) Awards celebrate the power of partnerships.

To mark the milestone, five prize-winning projects have been chosen ahead of a gala awards evening in three weeks’ time – and members of the public have 20 days to choose their favourite and vote for the ‘People’s Choice.’

The winning competitor will receive an iPad. They will also be invited to meet the ‘People’s Choice’ team before the gala ceremony on Tuesday 26 June, and join them for the gala dinner.

Voting is open until 12:00 on Friday 22 June.

The five finalists are:

Commenting on the finalists, Professor Colin Riordan, Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, said: “This year’s winners are superb illustrations of the strength and depth of the University’s work to mark the 20th anniversary of the I&I Awards. Each is an outstanding example of ‘real world’ research that helps to save lives and change society, and all perfectly highlight why we are ranked 2nd in the Russell Group for IP income, and account for 98% of the IP income generated by Welsh universities.”

The Innovation and Impact Awards are organised by the Cardiff University Innovation Network, which has promoted business-university interactions for over two decades.
