Charity of the year

15 February 2018

Llamau cheque presentation

Cardiff Business School has made the first in a series of donations to Llamau after choosing the third sector organisation as its charity of the year.

The presentation of a cheque for £500 concluded a meeting where Frances Beecher, Llamau’s Chief Executive, and Dean Professor Martin Kitchener discussed how the School can help with Llamau’s ongoing awareness building, research and fundraising activities.

Professor Martin Kitchener said: “As the first Public Value Business School, we are committed to promoting economic and social improvement around the world. But we mustn’t lose sight of our hinterland, the local communities in and around Cardiff...”

“Like many across the city, our staff observed the increasing levels of homelessness in Cardiff and felt compelled to help.”

Over the course of the year, staff and students will participate in fundraising events including Llamau’s sleep outs.

Professor Kitchener added: “We look forward to further fundraising activities over the coming year and working together with Llamau in the areas of research and engagement to help tackle homelessness and social exclusion here in Cardiff and across Wales.”
