A London Mathematical Society (LMS) meeting was recently hosted by the Cardiff School of Mathematics.

The Meeting and Workshop on Algebraic Structures and Quantum Physics took place over three days consisting of three different parts: Graduate meeting; LMS regional meeting for the South and South West UK; Workshop Algebraic Structures and Quantum Physics.

In the Graduate Meeting, there were two lectures introducing the topics of the talks of the regional meeting to a general mathematical audience. PhD students also had the opportunity to give talks about their PhD projects.

The LMS Regional Meeting featured Shahn Majid (Queen Mary) talking about Braided algebra and dual bases of quantum groups, and Ingo Runkel (Hamburg) with a talk on Categorification and field theory.

The Algebraic Structures and Quantum Physics workshop featured a number of speakers from the likes of Dublin, Bath, York, Glasgow, Aachen, Durham, Galway, and Cardiff.
