The School of Engineering has been rated the top School in the Russell Group in the latest Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES).

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is the only UK higher education sector-wide survey to gain insight from postgraduate research students about their learning and supervision experience. The survey is conducted across 117 institutions and received 57,689 responses. It is undertaken each year between February and May.

Areas with which our engineering students were most satisfied included their research supervision, resources for their work, and the provision of training in research skills.

Dr Peter Cleall, Director of Postgraduate Research Studies, said: “We are really pleased that our efforts to provide an excellent student experience for our postgraduate research students are reflected in this survey and we will continue to work to ensure a vibrant and supportive research environment for our students.”

Across the UK postgraduate research students continue to have positive experiences, with 82% of respondents agreeing that they are satisfied with their programme overall. This has remained steady across the past three survey cycles.
