It is believed that desirable and non desirable modes of leaders' behaviours are gained from the cultural values and practices they grow up into over the time. Most research studying the relationship between culture and leadership is in business or psychology. Therefore, studying the interaction between culture and leadership in the context of nursing is essential for nurse leaders.
Leadership and culture are two significant explanatory constructs of organizational performance. The relationship of these constructs, however, is not clearly understood. Moreover, not much is known about the impact of culture on nurse leaders' leadership styles. Culture can shape or maintain leadership styles that positively or negatively impact on organizational outcomes. To be successful in their roles as leaders, regardless of their experience, nurse leaders need to be trained about how the leadership-culture connection impacts on organizational performance. As the proportion of expatriate nurses in Saudi Arabia increases, cultural differences need to be better understood, especially in areas such as leadership, communication, and orientation, in order to enhance organizational performance and improve positive outcomes of patient care.
Thus, this study will try to explore and describe the relationship between culture and nurse leaders' leadership style in Saudi
