Information for practitioners
Adopting a child-centred, child rights approach helps young people to take back control of their lives and reach their full potential.
Child criminal exploitation takes control away from young people. Practitioners must not do the same: young people must be heard and included in decision-making. Instead, practitioners must take a child-centred, child rights approach to supporting young people.
The Complex Safeguarding Wales Practitioner Toolkit was designed to complement the policy and practice guidance in Wales. It covers
- different manifestations of child criminal exploitation in Wales
- main warning signs and risk factors
- effective multi-agency approaches
- working with young people and parents
- sector-specific warning signs, roles and responsibilities
It includes the Child Criminal Exploitation Assessment Tool, definitions, and guidance for good practice.
